DV and Me

Diana Vreeland and me at The Met Costume Institute in 82’ discussing our take on color themes for ‘ The Beaches of Newport ‘ and a particular ‘ Blue of Paradise ‘ for a huge painted panorama set for her La Belle Époque Show in 82’ , I visualized a mix between Turquoise / light Azure blue and deep blue-green Cerulean . My final presentation sketches were done with heavenly rich, intense Schminke pastels, DV loved my somewhat freehand pastel technique . My previous presentations for DV done with various airbrush techniques, were rejected ,likely that she couldn’t relate to its photo-realism / I was using air brush regularly during that time period for both large and small paintings , Interacting with DV’s theatrics often felt as if we were performing high gesture theatre , Some years later her take on life was captured in the biopic / and there’s a still shot of DV and me / ‘ The Eye Has to Travel ‘ directed by Lisa Immordino, Bent-Jorgen Perlmutt and Fredric Tcheng , ph Larry Robins note to be continued tomorrow with photos of DV & me
